Apple is reportedly planning a major privacy-focused overhaul for Siri, including an option that would let users automatically delete chatbot conversations after a certain period of time.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, privacy will take center stage when Apple introduces a new Siri experience at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
The change is seen as Apple’s biggest attempt to regain momentum in the artificial intelligence race.
As part of that strategy, Apple executives are expected to position Siri as a more privacy-conscious alternative to rival AI chatbots.

Reports claim Apple is developing its first standalone Siri app powered by Google Gemini, offering a conversational AI experience similar to ChatGPT. However, unlike many rival AI platforms, Apple is expected to impose stricter limits on how long user data and conversations are stored.
One rumored feature would let users automatically delete chats after 30 days or a year while providing the option to keep conversations indefinitely—similar to the settings already available in Apple’s Messages app.
Gurman noted that Apple’s heavy emphasis on privacy could also serve as a way to counter criticism over the potential for Siri to lag behind rival AI systems in terms of capabilities and performance. He added that despite Apple’s privacy messaging, some security and AI processing may still rely on Google technology.
