A shawarma seller identified only as Andy was killed by alleged cultists in Sangotedo area of Lagos State on Saturday evening.
Witnesses said Andy was assisting customers at his stand when masked men stormed the place and shot him at close range. The attackers fled immediately, leaving him in a pool of blood.
The accident, sources confirmed to _PUNCH Metro_ on Monday, occurred near the ShopRite area of Sangotedo.
The anti-cult platform – Confra Naija – said the killing was cult-related and said the Eiye confraternity took responsibility for it.
The platform described Andy, also known as “Aboki De Junior”, as a peaceful and hardworking businessman from Benue State who is well liked in the area.
Videos circulating online showed residents gathered around the body, with a woman believed to be a relative crying over it.
Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, did not respond to calls or text messages seeking comment at the time of filing this report.
Sangotedo and other parts of the Lekki-Ajah axis have seen repeated cult-related killings in recent years, often linked to clashes between rival groups over territory and supremacy.
In August 2025, PUNCH Metro reported the similar murder of a shawarma seller in Mowo area along Badagry Expressway.
