Benin City’s Hammerboi offers “Edamwen (Love Letter),” a beautiful love album sung almost entirely in his native Bini language.

Hammerboi, whose real name is Osasike Bobby Uwuigbe, was a producer in Benin City before venturing into singing and songwriting. He developed his sound by openly infusing the Edo language into his music, and “Love Letter” shows that approach at its best.

Hammerboi’s smooth, soulful delivery and irresistible call-and-response hook make the song a passionate serenade that you’ll be singing along to before you even know what the words mean. No wonder, as the excerpt went viral on TikTok and helped the single surpass half a million streams.
