NGX:RT Briscoe tops the list of gainers as investors made N344 billion

Investors in the Nigerian equity market earned N344 billion at the close of trading on Friday.

This follows a surge in the prices of shares such as Aluminum Extrusions, RT Briscoe and Learn Africa, among others, on the stock exchange floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) index increased to 249,712.37 points from 249,175.39 points on the previous trading day.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalization rose to N160 trillion from N159.7 trillion recorded by the exchange on Thursday.

Market breadth was negative, with 25 stocks rising, 29 declining, and 93 stocks unchanged in 62,386 transactions.

A total of 711,862,568 shares were traded worth N29 billion.

Aluminum Extrusions, RT Briscoe and Learn Africa led the gainers chart, with share price growth of 10%, 9.93% and 9.79% respectively, closing at N9.90, N14.06 and N12.90 per share, up from N9.00, N12.79 and N11.75 per share.

Trans Express, Cornerstone and The Initiate Place led other price declines, with falls of 9.92%, 9.24% and 7.97% respectively, closing at N5.72, N5.40 and N34.05 per share, down from N6.35, N5.95 and N37.00 per share respectively.

On the volume index, Fidelity Bank led trading with 192 million shares in 1,009 transactions, followed by Access Holding, which traded 58 million shares in 2,570 transactions.

Mutual Benefit traded 39 million shares in 461 transactions.

On the value index, Fidelity Bank traded shares worth N4.4 billion in 1,009 transactions, followed by Aradel, which traded equities worth N3.3 billion in 1,597 transactions.

Zenith Bank traded shares worth N2.6 billion in 2,885 transactions.
