How my ex-husband’s abuse cost me four pregnancies — Actress Basira Beere

Nollywood actress Omoshalewa Yusuf, popularly known as Basira Beere, has revealed that she suffered domestic violence in her previous marriage, which resulted in the loss of multiple pregnancies.

Speaking on the Talk To B podcast, the actress said she ignored early warnings from friends about her partner and proceeded with the wedding.

She revealed that she contributed about 70% of the wedding expenses, but the relationship turned violent a few days after the ceremony.

According to her, the first incident of violence occurred after she responded to a congratulatory message from a male acquaintance.

Yusuf said the abuse became frequent and was often triggered by small disagreements, adding that one violent episode led to an abortion shortly after it occurred.

She also revealed that she lost around four pregnancies due to repeated assaults during her marriage.

The actress said she stayed in the relationship due to pressure from her parents, but eventually left after fearing for her life, adding that she had no children with her ex-husband.
