Lonestar Cell MTN and BnB Strengthen Digital Finance Access Across Liberia

Monrovia, May 22, 2026: When Lonestar Cell MTN partnered with BnB in August 2024 to introduce cross-border mobile money services, the goal was simple — make sending money across Africa easier for ordinary Liberians.

At the launch, the service answered a growing everyday challenge faced by families, students, and business owners who needed faster and more convenient ways to support loved ones and conduct transactions beyond Liberia’s borders.

Through MTN Liberia’s USSD platform, customers could send money directly from their mobile phones to countries including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Uganda, Mali, Senegal, and others. The process removed many of the traditional barriers associated with international money transfers by offering a solution that was accessible, convenient, and available from virtually anywhere.

Nearly two years later, the partnership between BnB and Lonestar Cell MTN continues to expand its impact.

This May 2026, both companies launched a fresh wave of co-branded community activations across Monrovia, bringing customer engagement directly into communities through educational outreach, product demonstrations, and one-on-one interactions.

For Lonestar Cell MTN, the campaign represents more than visibility. It reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to deepening financial inclusion and helping customers better understand the opportunities digital financial services can provide.

“Digital finance works best when people trust it and understand how it can improve their daily lives,” the company noted during the activation campaign. “That is why it is important for us to meet customers where they are, educate them, and make these services feel simple and accessible.”

The partnership between BnB and MTN Liberia is helping customers benefit in several important ways. Families can now support relatives across African borders more quickly during emergencies or important life moments. Small business owners can transact more efficiently with partners in neighbouring countries. Students studying abroad can receive support faster, while traders and entrepreneurs enjoy safer and more convenient payment options without complicated procedures.

The collaboration is also helping to build customer confidence in digital transactions by combining MTN’s wide telecommunications reach with BnB’s financial technology expertise. Together, both companies are creating a stronger digital ecosystem that makes financial services more accessible to underserved communities.

What began in 2024 as a fintech and telecom partnership has steadily grown into a meaningful financial bridge connecting people, businesses, and communities across Africa.

As the latest activation campaign continues throughout Monrovia, Lonestar Cell MTN says the message remains clear — the future of digital finance in Africa is no longer a distant vision. It is already transforming lives, one customer and one community at a time.
