‘We are no different from APC, INEC’, Amaechi rejects ‘fabricated’ ADC presidential primary results

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has rejected the results of the presidential primaries conducted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the winner.

Amaechi in his statement after the primaries claimed that about 80 percent of party members were disenfranchised in the voting process.

He lamented, that “parties that criticize the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and result writing, should not engage in vote buying, result writing and other electoral malpractices that lead to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. This is unacceptable!”

He said, “following reports of widespread disenfranchisement in large parts of the country during yesterday’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential primaries, I categorically reject the fabricated results announced.

“I initially stated that I would only accept the results of the primaries if the process was free, fair and transparent, and I kept my word. I will not accept the results of a process that does not reflect the values ADC has promised to uphold, to save Nigerians from the impunity and gross mismanagement our country is currently facing at the hands of the ruling party.

“There is no way that about eighty percent of party members should not be allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such a result. So what makes us different from others? The whole idea of ADC is to give a platform to Nigerians, to amplify the voices of the oppressed, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone regardless of background, ethnicity or religion.”
