UCH guarantees stable power supply to public, says…

The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has reassured the public that power supply within the facility remains stable, dismissing speculation that the hospital is facing a major outage.

Speaking in Ibadan on Wednesday, the Hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmi Adetuyibi, said reports suggesting that UCH was battling an energy crisis were false and misleading.

His clarification followed the spread of a viral video alleging that diesel meant for critical units at the hospital was being diverted at a time of power outage.

While confirming that a diesel theft had occurred, Adetuyibi stressed that the situation did not result in a disruption of electricity supply or hospital services.

According to her, the hospital continues to receive power from IBEDC, while alternative sources, including generators, are available to support operations when necessary.

He said the current situation reflects the hospital management’s determination to look inward, strengthen internal oversight and ensure essential services are protected from disruption.

“There is no power outage in the hospital; everything is fine and calm,” he said.

He added that with the electricity supply available and backup solutions in place, patients and staff continued to enjoy a stable environment for healthcare delivery.

The UCH spokesperson also called on the public to refrain from spreading rumors that could create unnecessary panic, maintaining that the hospital’s services remain fully functional.

The development highlights the hospital management’s commitment to supporting stable power and uninterrupted care through internal efforts to safeguard critical operations.
