Police detain suspected armed robbers from a cult in Nasarawa

Police agents in Nasarawa have arrested six suspected armed robbers and cultists in the state.

They also confiscated dangerous weapons from the suspects.

This was stated by the Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, in his statement in Lafia, Thursday.

He said the suspects were arrested with firearms and other dangerous weapons during a special Eid operation.

He described the achievement as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to ensure peaceful and crime-free Sallah celebrations in the state.

Nansel said:”,Operations attached to the Violent Crime Response Unit on Wednesday, May 27 at around 16.30, while carrying out intensive patrols around Ombi I, Lafia, intercepted the suspects.

“The suspects, all of whom are male, are residents of Jalan Transformer, Ombi 1, Lafia.
They were intercepted with small bags and, upon interrogation, did not provide a satisfactory explanation of themselves.

“The search carried out on them resulted in the discovery of one make-shift Beretta pistol, one 9mm live ammunition, four Android phones, criminal talismans and one Bajaj motorbike.

“The suspects have been detained while investigations are ongoing to uncover their criminal network and possible involvement in other crimes.”
