The FAA demolishes Tabilo 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 at Roland Garros. The Maiden Slam title race remains alive as it prepares for the quarter-finals in Cobolli

Felix Auger-Aliassime, FAA, just put his name in the Canadian tennis history books.

The world No. 6 stormed into the quarterfinals of the French Open on Monday, defeating Chilean Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 7-5, 6-1. With that victory, FAA became the first Canadian to reach the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slam tournaments.

The clash at Roland Garros began with Auger-Aliassime in total control, taking the first set with ease. Toronto-born Tabilo pushed back in the second set and tied the 4th header game for game until the 11th game broke him.

A pause was all the FAA needed. He held serve to take a 2-0 lead, then carried the momentum into the third, racing away before closing convincingly.

The performance was even more impressive considering his journey into the second week: a tiring 5-set start + two 4-set battles before this series masterclass.

–“Next stop: maiden Slam?”–

The win keeps Auger-Aliassime’s dream of a first major title alive. With a lot of confidence and staying fit, the Canadian looks ready for a deep run.

Next up: Italian Flavio Cobolli, who beat American Zachary Svajda to reach his first RG QF. The winner moves one step closer to the semi-finals and remains in the running for the title.
