Emir Sanusi dismisses Kano village chief for land extortion

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has dismissed the Head of Rikadawa Village, in Madobi Local Government Area, Malam Rabi’u Yusuf, over alleged involvement in land extortion.

The suspension followed complaints from members of the community that the village head and Isah Dahiru, the Regent’s son, sold land belonging to the Regent of Madobi, Alhaji Sale Musa-Kwankwaso, without permission.

Matawalle Kano, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim-Ahmad, and Waziri Kano, Alhaji Sa’ad Shehu-Gidado, announced the Emir’s decision after receiving the complaint on Thursday.

According to the Emir, this act was a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by the Kano Emirate.

He said the village head was still suspended pending the results of the investigation.

One of the complainants, Muddasir Dahiru, admitted that he submitted a petition to the Emir after the regent’s land was sold to him without the owner’s knowledge.
