NPFL: Uzoho vows to consolidate first win as Rivers United hold Ranchers Bees

The coach of Owerri-based Kun Khalifat FC, Obinna Uzoho, on Sunday secured his first win in the ongoing Nigeria Professionañ Football League (NPFL) season.

Playing at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, the home boys defeated Ilorin’s Kwara United with a solitary goal scored by mercurial striker Agor after sustained pressure.

Uzoho, who spoke to Blueprntsport after the match, said he was happy to have secured the hard-earned win after 6 NPFL matches, and vowed to sustain the pace as they face the Niger Tonadoes on matchday seven in Minna.

The manager whose boys had lost 3 games and drawn 2 before their last match against Kwara United, revealed that he has lost many highly regarded players to other clubs during the pre-season transfer market and is making use of new and young players, mainly from the lower divisions.

“Normally I like to nurture young players and not experienced ones because I can’t stand the excesses of the so-called greats. I prefer to nurture them myself.”

He called on the club’s fans to continue supporting the team, promising to put things right in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Rivers United held Ranchers Bees to a 0-0 draw on Monday in their matchday six fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Both sides had the opportunity to break the deadlock, but poor finishing denied them a chance to take all three points.

The result extended Rivers United’s unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season.

Finidi George’s men have recorded three wins and two draws in five matches so far, with one game in hand.

The Port Harcourt-based club moved up to second place in the NPFL table with 11 points.

At the top of the table is Barau FC from Kano with 12 points.
