Abia Angels recorded an impressive 1-0 win over hosts Rivers Angels, while Nasarawa Amazons remain on course for the title with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Bayelsa Queens. On the other hand, Edo Queens thrashed FC Robo Queens 4-1 in the second day of the ongoing NWFL Super Six in Port Harcourt.
Winner David’s 26th minute header proved decisive for Abia Angels, with goalkeeper Oloko Fatima making a series of outstanding saves against his former club to help the Umuahia-based team secure a historic victory and move to four points from their opening two matches.
Nasarawa Amazons came back to claim their second consecutive victory of the campaign. Chiamaka Ezekwugo gave Bayelsa Queens the lead in the 51st minute, but Farikikyen Moses restored parity with 10 minutes remaining. Ayatsea Hembafan then scored in added time, scoring her seventh goal of the season to keep the Amazons at the top of the standings with six points.
In the day’s other match, Edo Queens bounced back from their first defeat with a resounding 4-1 victory over FC Robo Queens. Chioma Moses scored a brace, while Precious Oscar and Mary Mamudu also found the back of the net as the former champions climbed to third place in the table.
After two rounds of matches, Nasarawa Amazons lead the standings, followed by Abia Angels in second place and Edo Queens in third. Rivers Angels are in fourth place, Bayelsa Queens fifth, while FC Robo Queens remain at the bottom of the table.
