Top leaders of the African Democratic Congress on Thursday stepped up their push for victory in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, and accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of failing to deliver meaningful progress for the population despite being in power for more than three years.
Leading the charge at a massive campaign rally in Ado Ekiti were ADC National Chairman, David Mark, and the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, who urged voters to support the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dare Bejide, as a credible alternative to the incumbent government.
To the party’s supporters and stalwarts, Mark appealed to citizens to take advantage of the election opportunity and support the ADC candidates at the ballot box.
“Vote for our candidate, Bejide, so that your Ekiti dreams can come true. Give your vote to ADC,” he said.
The former Senate President stated that the party offers the best opportunity to reverse the challenges facing the country and improve the welfare of the people.
According to him, “The party with its candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, remains the only group capable of saving Ekiti from the grip of poverty.”
Also speaking at the rally, Aregbesola leveled harsh criticism at the APC, arguing that the ruling party’s performance at various levels of government has not lived up to public expectations.

The former Osun governor dismissed the notion that the ADC lacks the political clout to challenge the incumbent government, insisting that Saturday’s election results will reveal the true mood of voters.
“We will meet at the polls. The APC has failed at all three levels of government. The APC may want to belittle the opposition because of their performance, but such assumptions will have bad consequences.”
Aregbesola expressed confidence that the ADC would win if the elections were conducted transparently, and argued that the ruling party could only retain power through manipulation of the process.
He said, “I’m so glad you did it here. Any more than this, it would be a problem. They say the needle is very small, but no cock can swallow it.”
The ADC leader also paid tribute to women for their important role in electoral participation and grassroots mobilization, and urged them to turn out in large numbers on election day and ensure that every vote cast is counted.
The rally was part of the party’s final push before voters head to the polls to elect Ekiti State’s next governor, and the ADC presented the contest as an opportunity for citizens to chart a new political course for the state.
