Aina picks foreign-born Nigerian players who could have taken Super Eagles by storm

Nigerian international defender Ola Aina has picked three players of Nigerian descent who he believes would have improved the team if they had agreed to play for the Nigerian senior team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Aina, who played in England at youth level before moving to Nigeria, believes that some players would have lifted the team if they had followed a similar path.

He is not alone with the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and new goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo doing the same. Players such as Joe Aribo, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ryan Alebiosu, Emmanuel Fernandez and newly international Femi Azeez were also eligible for England but opted for Nigeria.

Now an established Nigeria international and veteran of three AFCONs, Aina was asked to pick players who he felt would have had a similar impact to him had they followed his route.

He chose the trio of Ebere Eze, who plays for England, Jamal Musiala of Germany and Michael Olise of France. “Ebere Eze, Musaila (Jamal) and Michael Olise will be there. He’s a bad boy,” he said.
