Rivers United keep an eye on former U23 defender Isaiah Ejeh

Rivers United of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) are reportedly monitoring a move for former Nigerian U23 defender Isaiah Ejeh, as the club begins early preparations for the team’s rebuild ahead of the new season.

Ejeh, who was previously on the books of Bangladesh giants Bashundhara Kings, is understood to be open to a return to the NPFL, with Rivers United emerging as a strong potential destination.

Pride of Rivers, who narrowly missed out on the league title to Enugu Rangers last season, are expected to undergo significant changes after reportedly releasing up to 20 players as part of a team review.

Ejeh brings a wealth of experience both locally and abroad, having spent four seasons at Kwara United before signing for Swedish side Mjällby AIF. He has also worked in Mbeya City in Tanzania and Bashundhara Kings in Bangladesh.

At international level, the defender has played for Nigeria at U20, Nigeria U23 and Super Eagles B, further underlining his pedigree and versatility.

His potential return to the NPFL is already attracting attention, with reports suggesting other top Nigerian clubs are also monitoring the experienced defender’s situation.

Ejeh is widely regarded as a solid defensive option, and his potential arrival at Rivers United would be seen as a significant boost to their backline as they look to mount another strong title challenge next season.
