Imo Police rescue a kidnapped victim during logging operation in Owerri West

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim during an intelligence-led logging operation conducted in some parts of Owerri West Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The operation, which took place on June 27, 2026, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, in collaboration with local vigilantes, following the directives of the Inspector General of Police through the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South East Geopolitical Zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie.

The clearance operation covered Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala axis of Owerri West LGA, with the aim of dismantling criminal hideouts and preventing criminals from using forest areas as safe havens.

During the operation, police officers rescued an injured kidnapping victim, identified as Chinonaobi Uchegbulam of Ubaha Orodo, from a hideout in the forest.

The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
CP Bosso commended the officers and personnel involved in the operation for their courage and professionalism, assuring residents that the command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

The Police Command also urged residents of Imo State to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious activities, adding that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against criminal elements.
