Youth group launches ‘One Million March for PVC’ campaign in Kaduna

The Social Youth Movement (SYM) has launched the “One Million March for PVC” campaign in Kaduna State, stepping up efforts to promote voter registration and urging Nigerians, especially the youth, to obtain their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) ahead of future elections.

Speaking at a rally in Kaduna, MGS Secretary, Okeike Christopher, said the movement was non-partisan and solely committed to promoting civic participation through voter registration.

“Our aim is not politics. Our aim is to create enough awareness so that everyone understands the importance of the Permanent Voter Card. Your PVC is your voice and your vote,” he said.

Christopher lamented low voter participation in previous elections, saying that ultimately it was a small portion of eligible voters who determined the country’s leadership.

“We want to change this narrative. No PVC, no voice. No PVC, no vote. Every eligible Nigerian should register and participate in the electoral process,” he added.

He said the organization will support community awareness through individual engagement and social media campaigns to encourage more people, especially young Nigerians, to register.
Christopher also said that SYM is working with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to raise awareness on the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
