The newly appointed coach of the Nigeria U23 team, Eric Chelle, has drawn up a list of overseas-based players who are eligible to represent the team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Chelle, in addition to his role as head coach of the senior team, is excited about ensuring Nigeria qualifies for the Olympic football event for the first time since 2016.
In that sense, while he has intensified the team’s monitoring on the local scene, he has also taken a bold step by ensuring that foreign players are part of his plans from the beginning.
We can exclusively reveal that he has already signed up to 35 players within the age limit, who are doing very well in foreign leagues.
A source revealed ten of the players who are on the manager’s list, and includes recently signed Brighton and Hove Albion winger Zadok Yohanna and RB Leipzig winger Sani Suleiman.
Below is the list.
Zadok Yohanna (Brighton, England)
Umar Abubakar (Famalicao, Portugal)
Suleiman Sani (RB Leipzig, Germany)
Promise Meliga (Kristiansund BK, Norway)
Mubarak Suleiman (Slavia Prague, Czech Republic)
Hafiz Umar (Reims, France)
