Police arrest 150 suspects, recover 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspected criminals and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen goods and illicit drugs during a major security operation conducted in criminal hideouts in the state.

SP command spokesperson Adebisi Abimbola said this in a statement on Monday.

According to her, the operation conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts in Boolar, Okofilling bus stop, Igando and other identified black spots within Area M, Idimu axis, adding that the raid was carried out at around 5.45am on Sunday following credible intelligence.

He said the coordinated operation involved a joint team of officers from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command and aimed to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorizing the affected communities.

“The items recovered during the operation include 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double barreled pistol, two single barreled pistols, one locally made double barreled short pistol, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted trinkets, six generators suspected to be stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and various quantities of illicit drugs,” he said.

The police spokesperson revealed that all suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activity.

He added that suspects found guilty will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the commitment of the command to support the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE across the state.

He said the operation is designed to deny criminals safe havens and strengthen public safety through intelligence-led policing and the continued clearance of criminal hideouts.

The Commissioner also appealed to residents to support the Police by providing timely and credible information that would help identify criminal hideouts, arrest offenders and improve security across Lagos State.
