The AFN Second Vice President commends the preparation of the Nigerian team for the Commonwealth Games

The Second Vice President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Akuchukwu Aghazu, has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, describing the preparation as one of the best the country has witnessed in recent years.

Aghazu commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its commitment to ensuring Nigeria’s team is adequately prepared, saying the Commission has “outdone itself” in providing the necessary support to athletes and officials.

According to her, the quality of preparations significantly increased the confidence of both athletes and coaches, creating a positive atmosphere within the Team Nigeria camp ahead of the Games.

“The coaches and athletes are in great spirits and continue to say they have never been better. The environment is excellent, morale is high and everyone is focused on the task ahead of them,” he said.

He noted that the athletes have embraced the training program with great enthusiasm, adding that they are working tirelessly to reach peak physical fitness before the competition.

“They train very hard every day and are highly motivated to perform. There is a strong determination among the athletes to make Nigeria proud by delivering outstanding performances and winning medals at the Commonwealth Games,” Aghazu added.

The AFN Second Vice President also praised the leadership of the National Sports Commission for creating a conducive environment that allows athletes to fully focus on training without unnecessary distractions. He expressed confidence that the level of preparation will translate into success when the Games begin.

Aghazu called on Nigerians to continue to support and pray for Team Nigeria, stressing that the nation’s encouragement would inspire the athletes to give their best on the international stage.

With preparations reaching the final stages, expectations remain high that Team Nigeria’s athletics contingent will be among the country’s strongest medal contenders at the Commonwealth Games.
