Newly appointed AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Nigerian international winger Samuel Chukwueze will remain at the club, following his return from a loan spell at English Premier League side Fulham.
As we exclusively reported, he received an offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor, but turned it down in favor of returning to Milan, where Amorim promised him a new life.
Last season, Chukwueze made 26 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell, including 23 in the Premier League.
He finished with three goals and four assists, but Fulham passed on the obligation to sign him permanently, which motivated his return to Milan.
Confirming the decision to keep the winger, Amorim explained the reasons why the 27-year-old will not leave the club in the summer transfer market.
“Chukwu is staying with us,” Amorim said. “We need players who can play one on one. I think Chukwueze has great qualities to be on our team and gives us alternatives to play with other systems.”
