The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has confirmed Senator Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi as its candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, and described his return to the party as a major boost to their vote tally.
The party said Ajagunla’s return consolidates its position in the senatorial district and strengthens preparations for the 2026 gubernatorial election and 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Friday, Osun State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, speaking on behalf of the national leadership of the party led by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed and the Osun State Working Committee said the senator’s decision to return to the PDP reflects renewed confidence in the ideals and leadership of the party.
Bisi noted that the PDP remains the platform of choice for politicians committed to democratic governance and development of Osun State.
“It is with immense happiness that I welcome our brother, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla, back to his political family. His return is not only a positive development for us but also reassures thousands of our members and supporters who remain steadfast in their belief that truth will always triumph over political expediency,” he said.
The PDP chief congratulated Ajagunla on what he described as a bold and carefully considered political decision, adding that the senator’s return further strengthened confidence in the party’s commitment to justice, inclusivity and service.
Bisi revealed that Ajagunla will fly the PDP flag for Osun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly elections, expressing confidence that the lawmaker’s political experience, grassroots support and popularity will enhance the party’s chances of retaining the seat.
According to him, the senator’s return comes at a critical time when the party is intensifying consultations and mobilization ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
