The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has formed a National Campaign Council consisting of high-ranking members to storm Osun State for the governorship election scheduled for August 16, 2026.
The council includes, among others, the President of the Senate, God willing, Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma as well as former acting national chairman of the party and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
This was revealed in an official announcement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
The council will be led by Uzodimma with three prominent Deputy Chairmen: Buni Akpabio and Abbas.
Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Advisor to the President on Political and Other Issues, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while the Vice President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, will serve as Secretary of the Council.
In a statement issued on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka stressed the party’s deliberate efforts to bring together top-level leaders from across the country to secure victory in the elections.
“The council consists of prominent party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, key officials of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state legislators, and other key stakeholders hailing from across the country to drive the Party’s campaign to victory,” Morka said.
The party has also established 12 special sub-committees to cover key operational areas, including Election Planning and Management; Financial and Resource Mobilization; Grassroots Contact and Engagement; Security; Media and Publicity; and mobilization groups for youth, women, and people with disabilities (people with disabilities).
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its subcommittees will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 in Abuja.
