The PROMAD Infotech Foundation announced the official launch of its 2026-2030 Organizational Strategy, which is a “bold five-year roadmap to scale evidence-based civic technology solutions that deepen citizen participation, strengthen accountability, accelerate the digital future and sustainable development.”
A press release issued recently by its founder and executive director, Daisi Omokungbe, indicated that PROMAD “reaffirms its mission to empower state and non-state actors through data-driven strategies, security and AI-driven tools, and deliberative processes that make governance more responsive, transparent and inclusive.”
According to the statement, the organization also renewed its vision to become Africa’s leading civic organization on technology, data and innovation by 2030, strengthening participatory democracy.
“To build on proven platforms such as FollowTheProjects and Isunawa AI (Our Budget), the 2026-2030 strategy focuses on institutionalizing participatory budgeting and monitoring subnational public projects in at least 10 to 15 states.
“These AI-enabled tools enable citizens to assess community needs, monitor budget implementation in real time, monitor project status (completed, delayed, or abandoned), and generate actionable insights that inform responsive government spending,” the statement reads in part.
The key pillars of the strategy are said to include “strengthening digital governance, expanding digital platforms and interactive dashboards for citizen involvement in budgeting, election oversight and political processes at national and subnational levels”.
They also include “strengthening the capacity of youth, women, persons with disabilities, civil society organizations and subnational officials through training, mentoring and knowledge sharing on social responsibility, digital skills, artificial intelligence and data literacy, policy advocacy, entrepreneurship and organizational development.”
Omokungbe further said: “These efforts directly support local, state, national and regional and international development agendas such as the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to strong institutions, reduction of inequalities and partnerships for the goals, while contributing to more effective service delivery and management of public resources in critical sectors.”
He said the 2026-2030 Strategy was designed for co-creation and large-scale impact, adding that “PROMAD invites donor organizations, bilateral and multilateral development partners, philanthropic foundations, government ministries, departments and agencies, state and local governments, civil society networks and private sector innovators to join us as partners and funders.”
“Together, we can expand the reach of civic technology solutions, institutionalize participatory practices across more states and local governments, build the next generation of civic leaders, and generate rigorous evidence of what works in promoting responsible governance and sustainable development. Investments in this strategy will multiply the impact by leveraging artificial intelligence, data analytics, and community mobilization to transform how public resources are planned, allocated, and monitored,” he added.
