The Ebonyi State Government has reacted to the recent waves of media attacks, protests and backlash against the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing them as a mere distraction while urging Ebonians to ignore them.
Ebonyi State Commissioner for State Information and Orientation, Barr. Chief Ikeuwa Omebe stated this in his office, while briefing journalists on recent events in the state. The media briefing by the Commissioner is a periodic exercise with Ebonyi journalists.
According to Barr. Chief Ikeuwa Omebe “Government is particularly concerned that some of the recent narratives appear designed to distract people from issues that truly matter: roads being built, schools being rehabilitated, health facilities receiving attention, workers receiving better welfare, rural communities linked to development and the numerous empowerment initiatives aimed at improving people’s livelihoods”
The Commissioner for Information explained that the Ebonyi State Government recognizes and respects the constitutional rights of citizens to protest and criticize, but that such public protests and criticism should be based on specific issues, adding that hiding under the weight of the opposition to create tension in the state would not be permissible.
Chief Ikeuwa Omebe therefore calls on all Ebonians to remain calm and ignore such misleading and misleading narratives and orchestrated distractions, insisting that development is not measured by the volume of criticism it generates but by its impact on the lives of the people.
The Ebonyi Information Officer explained that Ebonians are too discerning to be fooled by such political propaganda, adding that the government of Rt. The Honorable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, anchored on the charter of the people’s needs, is too focused and too busy to be distracted.
