The Winnipeg Goldeyes’ season came to a stunning conclusion on Friday night at Blue Cross Park.

The Goldeyes blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning in a 6-5 loss in Game 2 to be swept by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

The RedHawks won the West Division best-of-three semifinal series 2-0.

Fish was just two outs away from forcing a decisive Game 3, taking a 5-3 lead in the ninth inning. But Matt Kroon hit a three-run homer to give Fargo the lead for good.

Goldeyes closer Derrick Cherry gave up the game-winning home run for his second save all season.

Ray-Patrick Didder just hit a solo homer in the eighth to provide insurance for the Goldeyes. Roby Enríquez also suffered a loss at the end of the season.

Goldeyes starting pitcher Kevin Vaupel had a no-decision after allowing three runs in five innings. Sage Ferguson pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

Fargo will face the Kansas City Monarchs or Sioux Falls Canaries in the next round with the series entering the third and deciding game on Saturday.
