Oyo APC criticizes Makinde for his incessant criticism of Tinubu’s economic reforms

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday lashed out at Governor Seyi Makinde for his incessant criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Oyo APC, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Olawale Sadare, also condemned attacks by suspected armed bandits on a security base in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The party has described Governor Makinde’s incessant criticism of President Tinubu’s economic reforms as demonstrating poor knowledge of economic management, human capacity development and nation building.

“On many occasions, Governor Makinde has claimed that the removal of fuel subsidies and floating of the naira by the Tinubu administration were designed to punish Nigerians and enrich governors.

“According to his claims, he has enriched himself enormously as a serving governor, but the fundamental question is what he has done to transform the lives of the common man in Oyo State in the last seven years.

“It is evident that Governor Makinde lacks the capacity to create wealth, provide good governance and provide security with the huge resources at his disposal as he continues to waste tax prayer money on nonsense and cosmetic projects.

“A good example is the $7.8 billion spent on the purchase of surveillance planes, when it could have used 5% of the amount on cheaper technology software and hardware to achieve better results,” the party said.

On Sunday’s attack by suspected armed bandits, Oyo APC said the incident has raised further doubts on the functionality of the multi-billion surveillance planes recently purchased by Governor Makinde’s administration.
