AMAC President meets FCT women and collects votes for Tinubu, Aduda

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has urged women of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Philip Aduda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the AMAC Women’s Town Hall Strategic Meeting on “Beyond the Conversation: AMAC Women as Catalysts for Peace, Unity, Governance and Development Ahead of 2027”, Maikalangu reassured her administration’s full support, promising multi-million financial interventions for organized women cooperatives.

Addressing grassroots delegates, Maikalangu urged council women to form registered cooperative societies of up to 50 members to easily access municipal funding.

He revealed that his administration was willing to provide grants of between ₦20 million and ₦40 million directly to registered women’s groups to promote local trade and entrepreneurship.

In his goodwill message, former Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda promised a time-tested and inclusive legislative platform for women.

Represented by the director of the coordination of reforms and improvement of services, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Aduda highlighted the indispensability of women for sustainable peace and national growth.

Senator Aduda has promised that his bid to return to the Senate in 2027 will focus on economic stimulus: affordable financing, targeted support for cooperatives and support for women-owned businesses.

Speaking at the event, key women leaders and advocates highlighted the shift from political rhetoric to actionable development:

Special Assistant to the AMAC President on Women’s Affairs and convener of the meeting, Loveth Isekor, challenged women to stop expecting automatic support solely on gender lines without demonstrating leadership merit.

She introduced the LADDER initiative in collaboration with Live NGO, designed to promote capacity building and digital inclusion for grassroots women.

Also speaking, Executive Director of Gender Strategy Advancement and Founder of WEWE Network Afrique, Dr. Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, delivered a keynote address on mobilizing sustainable development; the role of women in driving socioeconomic transformation and inclusive growth.
