The White House has launched a 24-hour streaming channel known as “Trump TV,” giving viewers direct access to videos, announcements and other content from President Donald Trump’s administration.
The White House announced the launch on its official X account on Monday, describing the platform as a real-time stream featuring past presidential moments, major announcements and other highlights from the administration.
“Trump TV: The Essentials Station” is available through the White House website and its YouTube channel. The administration said the platform will showcase what it described as its most notable moments, including videos, major speeches and other presidential appearances.
The launch comes amid a growing dispute between the Trump administration and several major US media organizations over access to the White House.
White House-media dispute
The administration recently barred CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds, prompting the three organizations to sue over the decision.
Several major television networks, including ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, subsequently suspended shared coverage of the White House in solidarity with the affected channels.
The White House has defended its approach to media access, while Trump has repeatedly criticized news outlets for what he sees as unfair or “fake news” coverage of his administration.
The new streaming platform gives the White House a direct channel to distribute footage of the president and his administration without relying solely on traditional television networks.
The first broadcast features recorded footage
Trump’s first telecast featured previously recorded material rather than a live presidential event.
Among the footage shown was Trump’s July 3 speech at Mount Rushmore, highlighting the channel’s initial focus on presenting select moments from the president’s activities and administration.
The White House said the stream will be updated in real time and will bring together major announcements, videos and other content in one place.
The launch provides the administration with an additional platform to communicate directly with viewers at a time when its relations with parts of the U.S. media industry remain tense.
The White House said the new channel was created to ensure that viewers can access the administration’s most important moments even when they are not broadcast on traditional television networks.
