Super Eagles: Chelle chooses who will lead the attack in Osimhen’s absence

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has settled on the duo that will lead the team’s two-man attack on Friday against Madagascar in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The team will be without striker Victor Osimhen, who is injured, so the coach will have to choose one from the quartet of Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, Taiwo Awoniyi and George Ilenikhena.

Yesterday the team had its first training session and it is clear that the coach has already chosen his preferred pairing in his favorite two-man attack, playing the 4-4-2 system.

Barring a late change of heart, Adams will pair Ilenikhena in attack, with George playing behind Adams, who will act as the main striker.

The coach’s idea is to keep George in positions where he can have a clear view of the goal, which will give him the opportunity to use his ferocious skills to hit the ball and bother the opponent.
