Momentum continues to build ahead of the 2026 Abeokuta 10km race as more registered runners turn out to pick up their race kits just two days away from the much-anticipated road race.
The kit collection exercise, which began on Wednesday, September 30, continues at the car park of the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, as participants make final preparations for Saturday’s event.
The race, scheduled for Saturday, October 3, will begin at Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, and end at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, where finishing activities are expected to take place.
With more than 3,000 runners expected to participate, the event will bring together athletes, fitness enthusiasts and residents in what promises to be a great celebration of running and healthy living in Abeokuta.
Organizers have also reaffirmed that the race is strictly for Nigerian athletes, providing an opportunity for indigenous runners from across the country to compete on their homeland.
As the countdown enters its final 48 hours, excitement is growing among participants, with riders expected to complete their preparations before the starting gun on Saturday morning.
The Great Abeokuta 10km Race is organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML) and is supported by the Ogun State Government and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
