The National President of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, said on Tuesday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda said this while answering questions from State House correspondents after meeting with the President alongside the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to brief the President on preparations for Saturday’s campaign flag in Kaduna.
He said the support of parties that had previously defeated the APC in the elections demonstrated the growing political support for Tinubu’s candidacy for a second term.
“If you look at what the party is doing now, the oppositions are with us. All the political parties that have defeated us in any election are all with us; the PDP is with us, the APGA is with us, the Accord Party is with us. These are the only political parties that have defeated us, except the APM, and they are all with us in this campaign.
“This shows that the entire Nigerian political cycle is Mr. President, and that is what we are doing now to make sure that we prepare for this great flag in Kaduna,” he said.
During preparations for the October 24 launch, Yilwatda said the party’s state structures and election committees are ready for the start of nationwide mobilization.
“We will finish the campaign on Saturday 24 October and as you can see, we will be together with the DG to brief Mr President on the preparation for the flag.
“For now everything is ready; the preparation is underway, the members are motivated, the states, the committees are ready and everything that needed to be done has been done,” he said.
Speaking separately, the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said the campaign council would seek another mandate for Tinubu by presenting the administration’s record to Nigerians, without resorting to insults or personal attacks.
The former Zamfara State governor said the APC will champion continuity across the policies, programs and achievements of the federal government.
“As a Council, what do we say we will do? We will campaign with documents. A responsible campaign, without insults, without insults because there is no name in front of us, but we have a document in front of us to show Nigerians,” he said.
He said the campaign will allow voters to examine the government’s performance and decide whether it deserves a second term.
“This is what our party has done, this is what our government has done, so this is why we ask, we plead with Nigerians to look carefully at this record so as to give us a second chance for continuity,” he said.
The Kaduna flag follows the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on October 14.
President Tinubu chairs the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda serve as vice presidents. Yari oversees the day-to-day coordination of the campaign as general manager.
