Ogun begins distribution of subsidy palliatives – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The Ogun government has begun the distribution of palliatives to residents and indigenes of the state to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

Recall that the state took delivery of 3000 bags of rice from the federal government last week, it was then re-baged into 10kgs.

Speaking at the flag off held at the arcade ground of the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Governor Dapo Abiodun said the 10kg bags of rice will be distributed across all polling units.

The governor added that the use of wards would not be equitable, hence all voting places in the state would serve as the distribution hub.

“Today we are flagging off the distribution of the palliative and inauguration of the palliative distribution committee.

“Our desire for the first instance is to distribute about 300 thousand bags of rice of 10 kg bag of rice across all polling units.

“We have decided to use the polling unit as a reference of distribution because we realize that using wards will not be equitable”, Abiodun said.

He however, added that his administration would also offer all pregnant women in the state, free healthcare insurance coverage named “IBIDERO” as well as bursaries for all students who are indigenous to the state.

“We would also be providing all our pregnant women across the state with our Ogun state health insurance cover called “ IBIDERO” this will cover their prenatal engagement and also postnatal consultation for up to six months.

“We would also be extending the same palliative to our students,w they would be paying our indigene students bursaries across boards in higher institutions in the state,” he said.
