Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has attributed his team’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier to the challenges of extensive travel.
The Super Eagles further dropped points in the race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket.
At the Huye Stadium in Rwanda, a stunning strike from Walter Musona put the Warriors ahead but Kelechi Iheanacho leveled the game in the second half.
The Super Eagles find themselves without a win in their first two games of the qualifying series, having previously drawn 1-1 with Lesotho.
“It was a tough, difficult trip from Nigeria in the flight, many hours, the players didn’t rest enough for quick play at the same level,” Peseiro said in his post match presser. “First half, very bad, second half, much better.”
Nigeria will next face South Africa in the qualifying rounds, in June 2024.
