Mr Friedman, you're going to have to be more careful with pronunciation of names (i know i'm one to talk – they sound the same but they're spelled different) however, to not get confused between Gauthier and Gaucher. Anaheim has both, and in fact, Gaucher was a Memorial Cup winner and 2 x U20 Gold medal winner that apparently some teams have forgotten about???
Bottom line, leafs have to beat Florida , Boston to make it out of the Atlantic. Signing Nylander for all this cap space does not help a team that's already too top heavy in cap spending and lacking good defense and goaltending

Leafs are 6th in the division in regulation wins just one more regulation win than Ottawa. Compared to the rest of the league they are 25th in regulation wins. Paying half your cap to 4 forwards was, is and always will be a huge mistake going into the playoffs.
Leafs are built for regular season hockey. Leafs are not built for the much more physical grinding playoffs. Tweaking 1 or 2 players is not going to change the outcome.

This team knows it had to trade either Marner or Nylander and they chose, so going forward Tavares will be gone and Marner will be gone . You keep Mattews and Nylander , Reilly. The rest are expendable. With the Marner trade you get your defence or high draft pick in the 2024 or 25 draft.
Salary cap. Greed kills teams. The core 4 are narcissistic lazy entitled goofs that destroyed a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a great team with their delusional self importance. What a disgrace after 51 years following this garbage. It’s not lost on me that Shannahan and Burke worked in NHL head office before sabotaging the Leafs in Toronto starting in 2006.

Seriously people hate the Leafs with good reason. We gave the players the keys to the Kingdom without winning anything, they show zero heart, they blame the coaches, it’s the refs, etc. wake up and look in the mirror. Nobody except Reilly was willing to take a team friendly deal. AM does nothing against elite competition time and time again. Guy is gonna be the highest paid player and isn’t in the top 10 in scoring. Honestly if this team keeps meandering I hope they just stand pact or even become sellers to show these no heart, overpaid babies that they need to dig deep if they think management should go out to get them help. We have bled the coffers dry and need to reset and rebuild this team with a proper D corp and depth.

Sell trade a bunch of players for draft picks lose games like they are now get good high draft pick and start fresh next year with young players let the young guys play and hire one or 2 physical guys to show them on how to be physical
