Finidi Charged to Give Home-Based Players Super Eagles Shot

Finidi, who recently stepped aside from his position as head coach of Enyimba, is tasked to focus on domestic talents with the quality to break into the Super Eagles squad.

This decision follows longstanding grievances regarding the marginalization of local players in the national team setup.

Addressing concerns, Augustine Eguavoen diaclosed that the new technical crew will provide equal opportunities for both home-based and foreign-based players.

“There is a percentage of players from the domestic league who will always be part of the Super Eagles,” Eguavoen stated during the unveiling ceremony of the new head coach.

As part of this initiative, four local players will be invite for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic.

Preparation for these crucial fixtures will commence imminently, with the team set to convene for training in the coming days.
