South Africa MNT, Bafana Bafana, was left stranded in Port Harcourt following a flight delay that caused their late arrival, preventing them from arriving in Uyo on Wednesday.

Bafana Bafana landed in Nigeria on Wednesday, but after passing through immigration at the Port Harcourt Airport, their chartered flight could not take off to Uyo as the airport had closed, forcing the 1996 AFCON champions to spend the night in Port Harcourt.

The tea’s Media Officer Romy Titus confirmed their itinerary afterwards: β€œThe team is still not at base in Uyo, mostly due to the massive flight delay this morning.

β€œImmigration took place at Port Harcourt Airport, and by the time we were to take off the Airport in Uyo had closed. We will need to spend the night in Port Harcourt but still currently awaiting transfer.”

Hugo Broos’ side are now expected to make the trip to Uyo this morning (Thursday).

In preparation for Friday’s game, Bafana Bafana will train at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

South Africa is second in Group C with three points from two games, while Nigeria are third with two points.
