Former Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Alhaja Ramota Bankole, has died in Saudi Arabia.
Bankole, one of the APC Lagos women leaders from Epe Division, died while performing Hajj in the Middle Eastern Country.
The chairperson of Epe local government, Mrs Surah Animashaun, confirmed Bankole’s death in a statement on Thursday.
Animashaun said the deceased was healthy and fit before leaving the country to perform the Hajj.
He said: “It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of Alhaja Ramota Bankole.
“It was a sad day when I received the news that he died in the holy land of Mecca while performing the Hajj.

“I convey my condolences to the Bankole family, APC members and the entire Epe community on the passing of our beloved sister and mother.”
The APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Seye Oladejo, also confirmed the news to journalists.
He described the late Bankole as a committed party member.
“His death is shocking and unfortunate. He is a committed and experienced party leader.
“The deceased proved to be a driving force and inspiration for women’s participation in politics. May his precious soul rest in peace,” Oladejo said.
