The House of Representatives Public Petitions Committee on Thursday summoned AGIP Oil Company for alleged non-payment of a N80 million debt owed to De Cooon Services Limited.
Chairman of the committee, Michael Etaba, gave the directive during an investigative hearing in Abuja.
He expressed his displeasure over AGIP’s non-payment and non-appearance at Thursday’s hearing and ordered the company to appear before the committee on June 26.
De Coon is an indigenous company run by Prof. Nelson Onubogu.
The lawmaker described Agip’s refusal to pay the company for a job well done.

He stressed that it was time for Nigerians to take themselves seriously.
Speaking on the matter, one of the committee members, Matthew Nwogwu, said that AGIPβs absence was a disrespectful act.
He said: βIt is unfortunate that the people who should be accountable to the Nigerian people are not doing so.
βWhen a committee like this is mandated by the constitution to deal with issues relating to the lives of the Nigerian people, then the committee will summon an organization but such refusal will raise concerns.
βI don’t know who is protecting whom but no one is above the law; the only people who have immunity are the governor and the President.
