Ministry of Labour dismisses five employees

The Ministry of Labour has dismissed five employees immediately for their alleged involvement in illegal activities recently carried out in Gbarpolu County, Western Liberia.

According to a press release, those dismissed are Edwin Seebo, Victor Whymah, Samuel Sambola, Bill  Ninneh and  Raymond Saah , Inspector.

The release says the ministry launched an immediate investigation and discovered that the individuals involved, though the Ministry of Labour employees, were not inspectors.

The ministry states that its decision to dismiss these employees is intended to serve as a strong warning to all employees, emphasizing that it will not condone any unlawful behavior from its employees.

On June 17, 2024, the Superintendent of Gbarpolu County brought to the attention of the Minister of Labour, Counsellor Cooper Kruah, that some individuals, who had presented themselves as ministry inspectors, were in Gbarpolu County arresting alleged aliens and seizing their passports under the pretext of being Ministry of Labour inspectors.

Their activities in the county were illegal as the acting minister, let alone the minister proper did not authorize them.

The release further states that following the outcome of the investigation, Minister Cooper Kruah has, with immediate effect, ordered the dismissal of the five employees involved in the illegal activities carried out in Gbarpolu County, with a similar case in Monrovia involving one of its inspectors.

Meanwhile, the dismissed employees have been ordered to turn over all government properties to the Human Resources Department. Press Release
