Police officers in Delta have killed one suspected kidnapper and arrested three others in the state.
State police spokesman Bright Edafe told reporters on Saturday in Warri that one AK-49 rifle was recovered from the suspects.
Edafe said the suspects were arrested at different locations between Monday and Friday by police officers deployed to Ughelli on special duty.
He added that some criminals were also arrested at various locations in the state by a police team led by ASP Julius Robinson.
The spokesman said: βActing on credible intelligence information regarding the abduction of the male victim on May 17, 2024, at his residence in Adjakota, Ughelli South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
βAnd the victim was then killed by the kidnappers.

βOfficers on special duties led by ASP Robinson cracked down on the deadly kidnapping syndicate responsible for the act.

βSimilarly, on July 4, 2024, the suspect led officers to arrest two other members of the gang in Agwara and Agbarho Communities in Ughelli South and Ughelli North.
βOfficers acted on the suspect’s confession and stormed the Oviri-Ogor bush, where they faced an attack from other gang members on Friday.
βIn the ensuing gunfight, one of the criminals hiding in the bushes sustained a gunshot wound.
βThe injured suspect was taken to hospital and later died while receiving treatment.
“One AK-49 rifle was found in the suspect’s hideout while investigations into the case are still ongoing,” Edafe added.
