The ad hoc committee investigating the ‘N30 trillion ways and means’ loan under former President Muhammadu Buhari has been given two months to submit its report.
This comes after the committee failed to meet its initial deadline. Senate President Godswill Akpabio inaugurated the 17-member ad hoc committee to investigate “funds and means worth N30 trillion” acquired under Buhari on March 11, 2024 and report in “six weeks”.
The deadline has passed and the panel has not submitted its report.
The Senate approved a two-month deadline extension after Isah Jibrin, the committee chairman, requested it at a Senate hearing on Thursday.

Jibrin, a senator representing Kogi East, said investigations were ongoing while disclosing that the N30 trillion figure was obtained based on documents provided to his committee by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“We felt the need to get more detailed information. We were told that all the records are in the auditor general’s office, namely the tenor and payment schedule,” he said.
“In fact, we were told that Ondo and FCT benefited by those ways and means and that there is a repayment schedule. We have written to them (the auditor-general) but they have not responded.”
