The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on Monday killed two suspected Boko Haram fighters in Borno State.
MNJTF spokesman Lt. Col. Abdullahi Abubakar disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said: βAs part of Operation Lake Sanity 2, troops of Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) successfully conducted a covert operation on July 8, 2024, targeting a terrorist hideout in Kwatan Dowoshi, Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State.
βDuring the operation, troops engaged in a gun battle with the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of two Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.
“The operation succeeded in destroying the terrorist hideout and confiscating a number of pieces of evidence, including AK-47 rifle magazines, 148 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 2 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, 4 magazine storage locations, 172 receipts for farmer and fisherman taxes/levies, 2 Baofeng radios, and a large number of various types of drugs.”

The spokesman revealed that five terrorists surrendered to troops on Thursday.
βIn addition, on July 11, 2024, at Task Force Wulgo, which is a combined force of Cameroonian and Nigerian troops, 5 Boko Haram/ISWAP members surrendered.
βThe surrendered men were identified as Babagana Ali, 25, Modukau Abatcha, 20, Alhaji Bako, 27, Muhammad Bataye, 18, and Babagana Mohammed, 15,
βThese individuals emerged from Tunbouma Village and Kutungulla Village in Marte Local Government Area of ββBorno State and are currently undergoing further investigation.
βCommander of the Forces, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, commended the Sector 3 troops, Task Force Wulgo, and the hybrid troops for their bravery.
βHe asked the remaining terrorists to lay down their arms and surrender.β
