At least 14 people were killed and four others injured in a horrific car accident along the Kano-Kanya road in Babura local government area of ββJigawa State on Tuesday.
State police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu confirmed the accident in a statement on Tuesday in Dutse.
Shiisu said a truck and a bus were involved in the accident that occurred in Kanya village at 11:20 a.m.

He said: βToday, at approximately 11.20am, information we received from the command revealed that there was a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a Daf Truck with registration number: GMB 242 KD, which was coming from Kanya market.
βUpon arrival at the Immigration checkpoint, there was another vehicle, a Toyota Hiace with registration number: XA 381 GAS also coming from Kano market towards Kanya in an overloaded condition and traveling at high speed.
βWhen the immigration officer stopped him, the driver refused to stop and tried to pass through the checkpoint by swerving into another lane. As a result, he collided with the truck.β
