Farmer fined for allegedly desecrating neighbor’s daughter in Oyo

Police on Thursday arraigned a farmer, Mufutau Salaudeen, at the Oyo State Family Court in Iyaganku, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter.

The police charged the defendant with blasphemy with case number MI/FC/52C/2024.

Prosecuting counsel, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Salaudeen violated the 11-year-old girl at Olowosokedile area of ​​Ajegunle, Saki, Saki West local government area of ​​the state on July 2.

He said the defendant allegedly lured the girl into his room and defiled her.

The violation, according to Adedeji, violates Article 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Act 2016.

The Magistrate, Mrs Serifat Adesina, who had no jurisdiction to handle the matter, ordered that the accused be detained at Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan.

He postponed the matter until October 14 for mention.
