“They want to tarnish my father’s image,” says Governor Zulum’s son of murder allegations (Video)

Umara Babagana Zulum, son of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, has spoken out over allegations that he killed a student in India during an argument over a woman.

Several social media platforms were abuzz with reports that Unara, a student of New Delhi University, had smashed an alcohol bottle on a Chinese national who had shown interest in the same woman as her at a nightclub.

The sensational story also said his father had run fast and tried hard to withdraw diplomatic relations to get his son off the hook.

Although the state government denied reports of the arrest of the governor’s son on murder charges, the reports have not died down and have grown stronger, forcing the Borno Governor to issue a statement saying he would not hesitate to take legal action against any media outlet that continues to spread what he described as big lies.

Umara herself has also denied the murder allegations, calling them baseless and untrue, and aimed at her father with the aim of tarnishing his image.

In a video clip he uploaded on his X account with the handle @muhdzulum, Umara who claimed to be currently at the Government House in Maiduguri, responded to the allegations by saying that his father was the real target of those behind the allegations.

“Dear citizens of Nigeria, I am Umara Babagana Umara Zulum, I am here to refute the detrimental false news that has been spread against me,” he said in the video.

“There have come to me baseless gossip accusations against me, saying that I killed someone in a nightclub.

“That is not true. They want to tarnish my father’s good name. I have been with my family for the past two months, in Maiduguri.”
