NGX: Equity markets start the week on a positive note, investors rake in Rp16 billion

The equity market started the week on a positive note on Monday, July 22, 2024 as investors earned N16 billion at the end of the trading session.

This follows the increase in the prices of stocks such as TANTALIZER, LIVESTOCK and NEIMETH among others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalization increased to N56.945 trillion from N56.929 trillion posted by the exchange on Friday, July 19, 2024.

The All Share Index (ASI) increased to 100,568.60 from 100,539.40 recorded on the previous trading day.

Market breadth was positive as 22 stocks advanced and 14 stocks declined, while 80 stocks remained unchanged in 8,760 trades.

TANTALIZER, LIVESTOCK and NEIMETH led other gainers with share price growth of 8.89%, 8.18% and 8.05% respectively to close at N0.49, N2.38 and N1.88 from previous prices of N0.45, N2.20 and N1.74 per share.

On the other hand, CAVERTON, ROYALEX and VERITASKAP led the other price decliners as they fell by 9.68%, 6.94% and 4.72% respectively to close at N1.40, N0.67 and N1.01 from initial prices of N1.55, N0.72 and N1.06 per share.

On the volume index, ELLAHLAKES led the trade with 110 million shares worth N332 million in 53 deals followed by UNIVINSURE which traded 21 million shares in 46 deals worth N7 million.

UCAP traded 20 million shares worth N778 million in 984 transactions.

On the value index, UCAP recorded the highest value for daily traded equities worth N778 million in 984 transactions followed by ZENITHBANK which traded equities worth N337 million in 389 transactions.

GTCO traded shares worth N368 million in 544 transactions.
