Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on traditional rulers to cooperate with the government in curbing crude oil theft and promoting economic stability and progress in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 117th/118th Joint Quarterly General Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt on Monday, Governor Fubara stressed the critical role of traditional leaders in ensuring security and deterring youths from engaging in economic sabotage in their communities.
“It is everyone’s duty to support the progress and stability of the Nigerian economy, which is highly dependent on increased crude oil production,” Governor Fubara stated, highlighting the ongoing challenges of illegal fueling and pipeline vandalism.
In his message to the traditional rulers council, Fubara urged proactive community leadership: “Take control of your communities. If you have information to share with us regarding these illicit activities, please do so. The stability and economic growth of our country depends largely on our oil production.”
He continued, “I order you to return to your communities and establish authority. We will support you, including providing financial assistance to form groups defending the truth if necessary.”

“We must all remember that Rivers State is our only home. Let us not allow personal interests to undermine our collective well-being,” Eze Wodo concluded.
