The President of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), Sunday Odebode, has congratulated the Paralympic powerlifters of Team Nigeria for their outstanding performances at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Nigeria’s para powerlifting team has so far won three gold medals and three silver medals, a remarkable achievement which has taken the Nigerian team to second place in the medal table.
The gold medalists are Esther Nworgu, Folashade Oluwafemiayo and Riluwan Idris, while the silver medalists are Esther Oyema, Roland Ezuruike and Rita Ferdinand. Their performances once again demonstrated Nigeria’s dominance in para powerlifting on the international stage.
Odebode commended the athletes for their determination, resilience and patriotism, stressing that they have made the country proud with their outstanding performances. He also praised the coaches, officials and leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, for creating an enabling environment for athletes to excel.
He expressed confidence that Team Nigeria will continue to add to its medal haul as the Commonwealth Games progresses and urged the athletes to remain focused on achieving even greater success for the country.
